An opportunity has risen for small scale farmers in the central
region to participate in world food programme (WFP) normal
procurement through the warehouse receipt system (WRS)
On 21st November, 2012
farmers from Mwandama Village in Zomba city located in southern
part of Malawi visited Kafulu warehouse in Dowa to learn more
about how the warehouse receipt System (WRS) is benefiting
farmers.

Exchange (ACE) sensitizized farmers from Chiwala Village, T.A.

challenge for more than 3.5 million farming families in Malawi.
More so, the farmers struggle to get their produce to organised
markets, hence losing out by disposing of the commodity to

one of its certified warehouses in Kafulu, Dowa, 70 km north of
Lilongwe. The session attracted participants from the donor
sector, government and development partners. Also present were
business executives, NGOs, traditional leaders and farmers.
